Constance Irene Kersey

Connie was born in Rockville to parents Joseph and Cordi (Ford) Jolley on April 8, 1926. She and her three sisters, Rena, Wanda, and Phyllis learned at an early age to love art, both parents were artistic.

During WWII while still in her teens, she became like “Rosie the Riveter” to do her part. Right after the war Air Force Captain Kenneth Kersey came to Rockville to teach school. The two soon met, married, and enjoyed 52 years together.

They moved to Greencastle, started Kersey Music Co., and raised four children: Rod, Lori, Chris and Ken. They also became active members of Brick Chapel Church (nearly 80 years).

After Kenny retired, they spent 12 winters in Florida, staying active in art and music there.

When Kenny passed on Christmas day 1999, Connie sold their cabin on Rockville Lake and moved back to Greencastle. She enjoyed several trips to Arizona with son Rod & wife Ginny. She and Ginny who she called her “second daughter”, became avid shoppers and occasional concert goers. They had great stories about Billy Ray Cyrus & Tony Bennett.

In her late 90’s Connie began to need help around the house. Her son, Ken, a recent widower, was happy to move in and help her in any way possible. He remained with her to the end.

As Connie neared 100, she would say “It’s Been Amazing”. And She was.

Connie leaves behind: 4 children, Rod (Ginny) Kersey, Lori LaRue, Chris (Vicki) Kersey, and Ken Kersey; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
