Obituary of Cynthia Ann Hendrich
Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Hendrich, 63, of Greencastle, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 8, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held for Cindy at 6:00 PM on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home on Saturday. Born June 14, 1960 in Greencastle the daughter of Dick and Annie (Selby) Asbell. She was the second of five children. Cindy was a graduate of Greencastle High School “Class of 1978”, where she was high school sweethearts with her future husband John Hendrich. While John was in the Coast Guard they lived together in Pensacola, FL and Governors Island, NY. John and Cindy were joined in marriage at First Baptist Church of Greencastle on September 26th, 1981. John and Cindy were blessed with three children, all who loved their mother dearly. She looked forward to retirement and the next chapters of her life with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Cindy was a homemaker and adored her family, and was the fabric that bound her family. She loved following her children in all their endeavors and the serenity of laying in the sun on the beach, gardening, mushroom hunting, and watching college basketball. You could always find Cindy smiling, laughing, and making sure everyone was having a good time. Her family will deeply miss her presence and feel her absence. She is survived by her husband John; she was mom to Kristin Giles, D.J. (Alison) Hendrich, and Mathew (Annika Amundson) Hendrich; her father, Dick Asbell; sister to J.D. (Candace) Asbell, Patrick Asbell, Terri (Gary) Haussin, and Phillip (Kathi) Asbell; Grandma (Meme) to Joey and Race Giles and aunt to several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and role model, Annie. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Cindy to the Humane Society of Putnam County.
