Daniel Ross Sims

Born July 7, 1947, in Greencastle, the son of Paul and Nannie (Furney) Sims. He was a graduate of Greencastle High School “Class of 1966”.

Danny had retired from Oxford Automotive where he had worked for several years. He had previously worked as a dispatcher for the Greencastle Police Department. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Greencastle Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ronnie Sims; in-laws PJ Hamilton and Mary Hamilton Luke; sister-in-law Judith Pryor; and brother-in-law Bud King.

Danny is survived by his wife of 52 years Elaine (Hamilton) Sims, whom he married on June 2, 1973; sons Travis Wayne Sims and John Ross Sims; brother Hubert “Sonny” (Millie) Sims; sisters Lola Pearl (Don) Norris, and Marcia King; sister-in-law Myra Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until time of services.
