Dona Joan Pierce

Born November 28, 1933 in Rockville, IN the daughter of Elbert and Frances (Thornton) Irwin and was a graduate of Greencastle High School “Class of 1951”

Dona was a homemaker and volunteered with the Putnam County Hospital Ladies Guild for several years. She was a lifelong member of Long Branch Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Letha Cofer, Elinor Buis, Marjorie Wallace, and Carolyn Flint; and two brothers Francis G. Irwin and Bobby E. Irwin.

Dona is survived by her husband of 68 years, L. Dale Pierce; children Teresa (Denny) Glenn of Greencastle, Jeff (Shannon) Pierce of Zionsville and Tawnya (Mitchell) Hunter of Mayfield, KY; a brother Don Irwin; grandchildren Michael Glenn, Jessica Glenn, Fran (Brayden) Dahlstrom, Jordan (Chelsey) Pierce, James Pierce, Skyler (Taylor) Hunter and Jake (Hunter) Hunter; great grandchildren Xavier, Kingston, Remi, Knox, Rowan, and Warren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital or the Putnam County Hospital Ladies Guild.
