Donald Eugene Watson

Don was born in Monmouth on March 30, 1941, the son of Robert I. and Pauline (Strange) Watson and was a graduate of Monmouth High School “Class of 1959”. He married Lou Watson on January 8, 1966, having just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary.

Don had worked in the Produce Department of Kroger’s and Eagles groceries for over 35 years. He had also been a custodian at the Greencastle School Corporation for nine years. He was a member of the New Hope Fellowship Church in Greencastle and formerly of the New Life Foursquare Church in Monmouth.

Survivors include his wife, Lou Watson; sons, Rev. Donnie (Jolene) Watson and Dan (Leann) Watson; a brother, Robert Watson; sisters, Georgia Madson and Carolyn Hillman; grandchildren, Brandon (Jessica) Watson, Kyle (Nicole) Watson, Amanda (Joe) Downing, Brittany and Amy Watson; great grandchildren, Jaxon & Emma Grace Watson and Brylynn & Gavin Watson; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Wayne D. Hillman; and a niece, Debra Watson.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm(CST) on Monday, January 20, 2014 at the New Life Foursquare Church 201 E. Second St., Monmouth, IL. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 am until time of service. The Turnbull Funeral Home of Monmouth has been entrusted with arrangements in Monmouth.
