Elizabeth C. Murphey

Elizabeth was married to her husband George (predeceased in October, 2016) for over 68 years. They were married on October 23, 1948. George and Elizabeth have three children, Susan (predeceased in 1992), Michael (wife Debbie and children Dathan and Jennifer - Vero Beach, FL), and David (wife Cristina and grandson, Jake - Austin, TX).

Elizabeth was born in Graves County, KY. After her wedding to George, they moved to various towns in Kentucky and Indiana before finally settling into Greencastle in 1957.

Elizabeth was very involved and giving to her community. She was an active member and beloved sister of the women of Tri-Kappa for over 40 years, and played an important role in creating a scholarship endowment for women committed to earning a college degree.

She and George were active members of the First Baptist Church for over 50 years.

Visitation and Funeral service will be held Monday, November 6, 2017 at Bittles & Hurt, 602 East Washington St., Greencastle, IN. The Visitation will be from 11AM till 12 Noon. The Funeral Service will begin at 12 Noon. Afterwards the family members and close friends will have a reception at the First Baptist Church at 404 Judson Drive, Greencastle, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Putnam County Memorial Cancer Research Fund at the Putnam County Community Foundation.
