She was born on August 21, 1926 in Cloverdale to Hansel Cleo Allen and Mary Sarah Williamson Allen.
She was a member of Eternal Life Baptist Church in Mooresville.
Mrs. McVey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Nelson McVey, brother Roy Allen and daughter-in-law Barbara McVey.
Surviving are her children, Diana Jones and husband Jeffrey, Ronald McVey, and Debbie Wright and husband Jerry; a sister, Lenora McEnvoy; sister-in-law, Mary Allen; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 1 P.M. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, with Pastor Don Endsley officiating. Interment will follow at Cloverdale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 11 A.M. until time of services at the funeral home.
