Born September 29, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas the daughter of Walter and Norma (Voges) Meckel. She was a graduate of Northeast High School in San Antonio.
Van married William Strahl and was a homemaker. She was a member of the American Legion, Eagles, Moose Lodges, and V.F.W. Van and Bill loved to dance together, known for their Waltz and Polka dancing.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Van is survived by her husband, William; children Gary Strahl, Doug (Christine) Strahl, and Rhonda (Jeff) Phillips; sisters Clara Ann Skinner and Gloria Gass; grandchildren Brittany (Thomas) Sauter, William Wallace, Miranda (Brandon) Garvin, Max (Desiree) Archer and Sophia Archer; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the time of services.
