

Born March 30, 2015 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Ewell and Dorothy Alice (Branham) Dozier and was a graduate of Bainbridge High School “Class of 1967”. He had also received his associate’s degree in Maintenance from Ivy Tech. He married Maridee A. (Walsh) Dozier on June 3, 1967.
Joe was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War, receiving a Purple Heart, and retiring after 30 years of service with a rank of Master Sargent.
He also worked at Great Dane Trailers in Brazil for over 20 years and later as a Correctional Officer at the Putnamville Correctional Facility.
Joe was a member and former president of the Brazil Kiwanis Club; a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion, Brazil; and the Moose Lodge, Greencastle.
Survivors include his wife, Maridee Dozier; son, Samuel (Julie) Dozier; daughter, Kattie (Scott) Crays; brothers, Michael Dozier, John Wayne Dozier, and Randy Dozier; sister, Sandy Greenwell; grandchildren, Jack, Alex, and Rachel Dozier, Justin (Parker)Crays, Bridgette, and Wyatt Crays; and special friends, Shirley Shambaugh, Linda Todd, Major Holley, and Smitty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant children, Jason and Christina Dozier.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at the Fillmore Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 22th at the funeral home.
