

Florence graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1941. After graduation from high school, she was working for Sears, where she met the love of her life, Kenneth LeRoy Sillery, whom she married on June 11, 1947.
She was a member of Big Walnut Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for 36 years, and also served as the Sunday School Superintendent, and a greeter. Florence was active in her children’s schools having served as President of both the Greencastle and Reelsville PTA’s, and had been a Teacher’s Aide for Blanche Skelton, a Room Mother and a Brownie Leader. She also served as the contact person for Washington Township, reporting to Jinsie Bingham the birthdays and anniversaries of the township.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Kenny, Bud and James Cornelius; and two sisters, Evelyn Beighley and Kathryn Martin.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Kenneth LeRoy Sillery; her children, Susan(Tom) Bates of Greencastle, Linda (Robert “Butch” Jr )Blue of Reelsville and Dale (Loretta) Sillery of Fillmore; a brother, Robert Cornelius of Texas; seven grandchildren, Kim Archer, Eric Blue, Carrie Blue Hubbard, Matt Sillery, Mark Sillery, Ryan Bates, and Emily Bates; eight great-grandchildren, Maegan Blue, Braedan Blue, Kaylee Hubbard, Eva Hubbard, Cody Sillery, Luke Sillery, Hallee Sillery and Lane Sillery; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 1 P.M. at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Goss officiating. Interment will follow at Fillmore Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be shared with the Big Walnut Baptist Church or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
Florence is remembered for her love of family, especially cooking family dinners, making great pies and organizing family reunions. She also served as the official photographer at family functions.
