Gene Milner

Born September 17, 1945, in Frankfort, IN, the son of the late Billy and Susan Jane (Morris) Milner.

He was a graduate of Rossville High School “Class of 1963”. Received his bachelor’s degree in history from Butler University in 1967, and his master’s degree in administration from DePauw University in 1982.

Gene was the IBCA Executive Director & Website Coordinator, publisher of the Indiana High School Basketball Record Book. He was the 1988 HOF Silver Anniversary Hall of Fame inductee; recipient of the 2006 IBCA Virgil Sweet Distinguished Service Award; a member of the Indiana Coaches Association; inducted into the National High School Basketball Coaches Association Court of Honor in 2022.

Gene is survived by his wife Dr. Carolyn "Carrie" (Blue) Milner; son, Christopher (Cheri) Milner, children, Parker (Dr. Virginia) Milner & daughter, Emma Milner, Mackenzie (Henry) Johnson & son, William Johnson, and Mara (Daniel) Romero; daughter, Laura (Christopher) Elsbrock, son, Zachary (Danielle) Elsbrock & daughters, Tillie & Lainey Elsbrock; and sister, Jane (Phillip) Waddell.

A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at later date. Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
