Bud enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps in 1943 and served as a pilot in WW II and Korea. He retired In 1974 from the United States Air Force Reserve at the rank of Major.
Bud worked for the United States Post Office, starting as a Mail Carrier in Greencastle in 1947 until he retired as a Postal Inspector In Charge for the Pittsburgh/Philadelphia Division in 1980.
Survivors include: his children; Timothy G. Monnett of Timber, Oregon, Tina L. (Robert) Coleman of Twinsburg, Ohio, and Michael L. (Diane) Monnett of Peoria, Arizona, a granddaughter; Megan L. (Mark) Hatala of Medina, Ohio, a great grandaughter; Keely Ann Hatala, three sisters; Patricia Smith, Marcia Campbell, and Janice Inman, one brother; Keith Monnett, and many nieces, nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; Clifford and Dorothy Monnett, his wife of 67 years; Alice Anna “Ann” Monnett, his brothers; Bill, Don, and Jerry Monnett, and his sister; Mildred Edwards.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home on Wednesday - August 1, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 2:00PM. Graveside funeral and military services will immediately follow the viewing at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
