Herbert Lee Sutherlin

Born February 11, 1943, in Greencastle, IN, the son of Herbert L. Sr. and Ruth Jane (Morgan) Sutherlin. He was a graduate of Fillmore High School “Class of 1961”. Herb married Marcia L. (Teaford) Sutherlin on June 6, 1965, and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Herb retired from Duke Energy (formerly PSI) where he had worked as a lineman for 40 years. He also had farmed for several years on the family farm.

He was a member of the Fillmore United Methodist Church and the Men’s Club, Plainfield Odd Fellows, and the Rebekah Lodge Plainfield. He enjoyed traveling and camping.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Nancy Ross.

Herb is survived by his wife Marcia, son Mark & wife, Karen Sutherlin; granddaughter Aubrey Sutherlin; brother-in-law Herschel Ross; nephew Brad & wife Jeri Ross and nieces Tammy & husband Jon Handy and Marcia Jane Ross; and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fillmore Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of services.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Herb to the Special Olympics of Putnam County.
