

He attended Morton Grade School and graduated from Clinton Center High School in 1944.
The enjoyments of his life were family, farming, and traveling. He was an active member of the Morton United Methodist Church. He served on the first school board to consolidate the North Putnam schools. Hubert received the Master Farmer award from Prairie Farmer magazine in 1998. He believed in preserving the land.
He married Ruth Keeney on May 20, 1951 and she survives. He is also survived by his children; Nancy McGaughey, Vonda (& Ted) McGaughey, James (& Diane) McGaughey, and Donna McGaughey. He leaves behind seven grandchildren; Bill (& Kassie) Fordice, Andy (& Heidi) Fordice, David (& Jessica) McGaughey, Lee (& Leslie) McGaughey, Laura McGaughey, Matthew Pope, and Michael Pope. Two great-grandchildren: Claire Fordice and Abigail McGaughey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Violet (Clarence) Overstreet and Zoe (Isaac) Wiatt.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 2 P.M. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, with Rev. Tim Matthews officiating. Interment will follow at Hebron Cemetery in Russellville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 4 -8 P.M. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Morton Union Chapel United Methodist Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
