

Jacquelyn Jean Thomas, affectionately known as Jackie, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the age of 93, surrounded by the love of her family in her home. Born on January 25, 1932, in Brazil, Indiana, she was the daughter of Loran Ival and Ethel (Miller) Ooley. She was a graduate of Brazil High School, Class of 1949.
Jackie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her boundless creativity shone through in her exquisite sewing, oil paintings, crafts, home decorating and more. Her flair for style was evident.
Early in life she worked at Donnelley’s in Terre Haute, she then became a wife, mother and homemaker. She later volunteered in the Greencastle School system as an aid for special needs students. She worked at Geri’s, a dress shop that was located on the courthouse square. Jackie was a long-time member of the Good Cheer Club.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don (Tommy); her dear daughter, Cindy; and her siblings, Agnes Ruth, Bud, Jan, and Joan.
Jacquelyn is survived by her daughter, Susan Thomas; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt), Vanessa (Kirby), Luke (Stephanie), Dale, and Ella; and her great-grandchildren, Bentley, Cole, Allison, Everly, Ivy, and Owen, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
A private graveside service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery, where Jackie will be laid to rest with the love and respect she so freely gave. Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
