Born September 21, 1909 in Owen County, he was the son of Paul and Carrie Hetser. He graduated from Cloverdale High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Helen, and second wife Virginia, and daughter Mindy, also his brother Hugh Hetser.
He is survived by his daughter Susie Sendmeyer, two granddaughters; Toni Glassman of Houston, Texas and Heather (Mike) Astumian, of Indianapolis; two grandsons, Paul (Francine) Karch of Bloomington, and Bart (Mechelle) Karch of Freedom, Indiana; 6 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
James retired as a machine repairman from IBM in 1974. He was a 55+ year member of F & AM Masonic Lodge #47, Moose Lodge #1592, Order of the Eagles #2516, American Legion, and the NRA.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the Hudson Hill Cemetery in Gosport with Rev. Paul Taylor officiating. Friends may call at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home from 10 am - noon on Thursday, December 8, 2011.
