James Kenneth Hinkle
November 12, 1947 – June 15, 2018

Mr. James K. Hinkle, 70, of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018.
He was born November 12, 1947 in Greencastle, the son of Kenneth Hinkle and Pauline (Neeley) Blake. He married Gladys Lucille Doan on August 27, 1970. Although the couple divorced after 30 years of marriage, they remained close until Gladys’ death in 2013.
James was a United States Army veteran, having served two tours in Vietnam and retiring from the Indiana National Guard with the rank of First Sergeant.
He retired after 25 years with the Milturn Corp., where he worked as a tool and die maker. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and V.F.W, Greencastle.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his ex-wife, his brothers, Lemuel “Buck”, Winfield, Paul and George Patterson, and his brother-in-law, Delbert Doan.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly (husband, Drew) Brattain; sister, Nelda (husband, David) Shoemaker; brothers, Carl “Joe” Hinkle and Richard (wife, Cheryl) Blake; sisters-in-law Glenna Doan Owens and Vicky McCombs; brothers-in-law Max (wife, Debby) Doan and Roger Doan; and grandchildren, Elijah Drew Brattain and Hannah Pauline Brattain; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside memorial services with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home have been entrusted with the arrangements.
