John Kenneth Huber, 79, of Greencastle, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 17, 2020.

Born on February 11, 1941 to Edward and Gladys Huber, he grew up in Cloverdale, Indiana. He graduated from Cloverdale High School in 1959. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard from 1963-1969.

John married the love of his life, Joan Elizabeth Callender on February 7, 1964. They celebrated 56 blessed years together. She survives.

He was a loving father of three children, Shelley (Craig) Gardner, Holly (Carl) Clark and Judson (Heather) Huber. They will miss him very much.

John was known as papaw to five grandchildren, Krista (Jonathan) Grimes, Nathan Gardner, Emma Huber, Zane Huber and Austin Clark. He had one great grandchild, Brevin Grimes.

John will be greatly missed by his siblings, Vera (Ray) Rushton, Jerry (Anna) Huber and Margaret (Pat) Rady. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, John Allen Huber and his parents.

John owned and operated John K. Huber Construction Company from 1980-2009. He and his brother, Jerry were co-owners of Huber Brothers Trucking. He was well known in the Putnam and surrounding counties for his bridge work and restoration of historic covered bridges. John was a Real Estate Broker and Deacon at Cataract Baptist Church.

John was an avid high school basketball fan. He enjoyed boating, family trips to Dale Hollow Lake, sprint car races, family cook-outs and holidays. He will be greatly missed by his barbeque buddy and nephew, Doug.

We will remember him for his strong faith in the Lord and his love of family. We rejoice, because our faith in Christ assures us that we will be with him again one day.

Joan...We are saddened at hearing about the loss of John. Going back well over 55 years, we recall, living as your neighbor on the Burma Road. Both you and John were so kind to us, and we remember you for bringing me home from the Hospital with our second daughter. You and John are very special people, and we shall remember John in that way.

I have many fond memories of Mr Huber from First Assembly of God. He was always a sweet man and I remember his laugh. My condolences to all the family during this time but I also rejoice with you that he is home with the one his heart desired. Many prayers for you all.
