John Chester Sears

Born February 11, 1957, in Barnwell, South Carolina, the son of John Charles and Beverley (Liptrap) Sears. He was a graduate of South Putnam High School, Vincennes University and received his Master’s degree in education from Indiana State University.

John had retired after 26 years as a manager from Cummins Mental Health. He was a former member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Beth Sears; and sister, Becky Sears.

John is survived by his children John J. Sears and Sarah E. Sears; grandson John Christopher Sears; brother, Charles (Alison) Sears and former spouse and friend, Toni Burns.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of John to the Humane Society of Putnam County.
