Larry Dion Bowman

Larry Dion Bowman, 85, of Greencastle, Indiana and formerly of Hanover, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2023. He was born on January 25, 1938 in Hanover, Pennsylvania, the son of the late George and Esther Wintrode Bowman. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Anna Manahan Bowman, his daughters, Valoree Bowman and Stacie Langdon (husband Rick), and his brother Kennard Bowman. Also surviving are four grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. After graduating from Eichelberger High School class of 1955, he earned an undergraduate degree in Education and later a Masters Degree in Administration from Western Maryland College. He began teaching elementary school in Hanover, Pennsylvania and spent most of his teaching career in the Southwestern School District, with the last 10 years as regional principal of Baresville, Brookside and Park Hills Elementary Schools. He was actively involved as a volunteer in his community and church, serving as the regional Make-A-Wish Chairman, a Youth for Christ volunteer, and participating in mission trips to Africa and Haiti. Upon moving to Indiana, he became a member of First Baptist Church of Greencastle. A Celebration of Life Service will be held September 1, at First Baptist Church, 404 Judson Drive, Greencastle, with visitation at 12 pm and the service at 1 pm.
