Leona Mae Brothers

Born June 26, 1939 in Indianapolis the daughter of Thomas and Florence (Spurling) Salyers. She was a graduate of Patricksburg High School “Class of 1956”.

Leona had retired from Owen County State Bank where she had worked as a loan officer. She had previously worked at Galyan’s Grocery Store in Plainfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold Brothers; three brothers, Raymond (Naomi) Salyers, Don (Marty) Salyers, and Bobby Salyers; and a sister Juanita (Oscar) Weekly.

Leona is survived by her children, Harolyn Robinson, Jeff (Julie) Brothers, and Larry (Rose Brennan) Brothers; a sister Charlotte (Jack) Bell; two stepchildren, Brian (Yvonne) Traverse and Stephanie McKean; grandchildren Ericka, Vern, Chris, Tracy, Jared, and Jeremy; great grandchildren Chase, Michael, Elizabeth, Byron, Gavin, Lakin and Emma; seven great-great grandchildren; and sister-in-law Mary Salyers.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM on Wednesday until time of service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Leona to Humane Society of the donor’s choice.
