He was born on February 9, 1947 in Peoria, Illinois to Cassel T. Skinner and Fayma Black Skinner.
Lester was a graduate of Fillmore High School and retired from the Putnam County Highway Department, where he was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his wife, Linda K. Buis Skinner; two children, Leslee Barber, and Michael Skinner and wife Ashlee; two brothers, Cassel A. Skinner, and James E. Skinner and wife Stephanie; five grandchildren, Justin Barber, Leah Barber, Zachary Skinner, Zoe Skinner and Roscoe Skinner; and a host of loving in-laws.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 7 P.M. at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, with Reverend Ernie Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 4 P.M. until time of services at the funeral home.
