Born August 29, 1949, in Pharr, Texas, the son of Gregorio and Consuelo (Lopez) Velasquez.
Mario had retired from CSX Railroad after 40 years. He had previously worked as an automotive mechanic. He was a member of Grace Tabernacle Church, Greencastle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cindy Decker and son-in-law John Hosmer.
Mario is survived by his wife Deborah (Garrity) Velasquez; children Greg (Kate) Velasques, Candy Hosmer; and Nataniel (Suzie) Velasquez.
Graveside services will be held at the Ohio Chapel Cemetery in Columbus, IN at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 28, 2025. Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
