Mary Katherine Douglas

Born June 21, 1940 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Buskirk) Yorger and was a graduate of Decatur High School.

Mary Katherine had worked at the Indianapolis Birthing Center for several years, and has served as a Midwife since 1974. She was a member of the New Hope Fellowship, the La-Leche League for over 47 years, and the H.O.M.E. assisting in women’s counseling

She is survived by her children, Mary Katherine “Kathy” (Charlie) Heimansohn, Eva Marie (Kelly) Lehr, Rose Ella (Doug) Russel, Elizabeth Ann “Beth” (Kent) Wilson, Robert Andrew “Rob” (Tracey) Douglas, Karen Elaine “Karrie” (Mike) Covey, Jennifer Lynn “Jenny” (Tom) Kennedy, Sandra Colleen “Sandy” (Jason) Jarrett, Sarah Jean (Matt) Fowler, Bryan Scott (Nikki) Douglas, a sister, Margaret Jane (Robert) Richardson, 46 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry William “Doug” Douglas, a son, Jackson Carl Douglas, and two sisters, Carolyn Jean Gladden and Roberta Ann “Honey” Shaw.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the New Hope Fellowship, 2450 N. US Hwy 231 Greencastle. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield, IN.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM on Tuesday, until time of service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Katherine’s memory to the New Hope Fellowship.
