Born July 22, 1942, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Warren and Mary Penn. She was a graduate of Southport High School.
Janie worked as a bank teller in Greencastle for several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Alex C. Taylor.
Janie is survived by her daughters Becky (Phil) Hutcheson and Debbie (Andy) Beaver; siblings Melva Sells, Michelle Hale, Paula Reynolds, and Callie (Kendra) Penn; grandsons Phillip (Ashley) Hutcheson and Tyler Hutcheson; and great-grandchildren Vivian and Jaxon.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle. Interment will be held at Lincoln Memory Gardens at a later date.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until time of services on Saturday.
