Joy, today's Service for Max was beautiful. You and your fine family have our deepest sympathy for your loss. Max was one of the finest individuals I have known. I had the pleasure of working for and alongside Max for a number of years.
His calm demeanor belied the depth of analysis with which he approached a problem or issue. He earned the respect of all with whom he worked. He made us as teammates better and the entire team better. I learned much from him. He was indeed, very special. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Joy and kids - Pat and I wish you all God's comfort on your loss of Max. I have known Max since our days at Purdue and knew him as one of the most kind and helpful persons in the world. As a coworker in soil conservation for nearly forty years, I know his mark is on the land all across Indiana. More importantly his mark is in the lives of many coworkers and on everyone he met along the way. He will be missed.
