Minnie Laverne Groves was born to the union of Louis and Willie Belle Williams on July 4, 1943. Minnie attended Redpath Elementary School and Greencastle High School in Greencastle, IN. She was the only girl with three male siblings.
Minnie was one of the most generous and caring individuals one could ever know. Her kindness and unselfish spirit allotted her to be blessed to acquire years of long-standing friends. All who knew Minnie loved and adorned her. Her compassion for people was unique. She enjoyed servicing people she loved and cared about by running errands and taking her friends to the store or to their doctor’s appointments. Her laughter was like no other.
Minnie loved watching football, basketball, tennis, the Olympics and other sports, especially with her brothers.
Minnie was taught at an early age by her mother Willie Belle Williams to cook and she always prepared full-course meals and rarely ate at fast-food restaurants. Minnie loved to eat, drink tea or coke and would top her meals off with dessert.
Minnie got married and moved to Redding, PA where she worked for many years. Although Minnie enjoyed living and working in Redding, PA, she made a selfless decision to take an early retirement to move back to Greencastle, IN to care for her mother and brother who had become ill.
Minnie lived in Greencastle, IN until her health started declining. In February 2023, her brother Elliott moved her to Waterford Senior Living in East Hazel Crest, IL which was an independent senior living community where she made several friends. She enjoyed playing bingo, indoor swimming, exercising, doing arts & craft, using the in-house beauty salon, library and store and going to the in-house restaurant where she could receive 3 meals a day. She was also provided with housekeeping service. Minnie resided at the Waterford Senior Living Community until her untimely demise on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
Minnie is preceded in glory by her parents Louis and Willie Belle Williams, brother, Harold Williams, brother Charles (Tee Tee) Williams, grandparents and a close cousin who was like a brother to her Joseph (Joe) Taylor.
Minnie leaves to cherish her memory, her brother Elliott (Billie) Williams, sister-in-law Carmen Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
Our hearts rejoice in the many acts of kindness that have been extended to the family during our loved one’s illness and demise.
