Mitchell was born in Reelsville on July 6, 1936, the son of James Noah and Valeena (Mitchell) Barnett.
Mr. Barnett worked for 51 years in the kitchen at Putnam County Hospital. Everyone knew his as “Cookie Man” He loved his Ham Radios, drives through the countryside, and visiting family at Don’s Garage.
Survivors include his three children, Annetta Morgan, Greencastle, Donald Barnett, (Virginia Lynn), Greencastle, and Randolph Barnett, (Michelle) Greencastle; a sister, Artava Capps; a sister-in-law, Ruby Barnett, Reelsville; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a wife of 28 years, Marcie Barnett; a grandson, Anthony Wayne Barnett; and two brothers, Oris and Franklin “Peanut” Barnett.
Per his request, there will be no services or visitation.
