

She was born on March 21, 1939 in Putnam County to Fred Hanks and Zella Masten Hanks.
Nancy was a graduate of Bainbridge High School. She retired in 2002 from the Putnam County Treasurer’s Office, where she had worked for over 25 years, including serving two terms as Putnam County Treasurer.
Currently, she was a member of the Monroe Township Trustee Advisory Board.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years, Rexford Carl McBride; two sisters, Flossie Lieske and Lou Ella Green and a brother, Alfred Ray “Buck” Hanks.
Surviving are her children, David McBride and wife Jennifer of Crawfordsville, Steve McBride and wife Jerri of Russellville, and Cheryl Thomas and husband Howard of Greencastle; a sister, Martha Walters of Las Vegas, NV; a brother, A.B. Hanks of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren, Jeff Magill and wife Kathy, Brad Magill, Jamie Bazoon and husband Jake, Dylan McBride, Shanna Raymond and husband Evan, Derik Thomas, and Danielle Thomas; and four great-grandchildren, Mitchell Dehne, Trevor Magill, Drew Magill, Jace Bazoon.
Nancy’s greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed baking, making awesome deserts and crocheting. Her greatest gift was her unconditional love for everyone that she met.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22nd, 2014 at 11 A.M. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, with Jim Fay officiating. Interment will follow at Brick Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 21st from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Nancy’s family would appreciate memorials to the American Lung Association to aid those with lung challenges.
