Richard R. "Dick" Benge

Richard (Dick) R. Benge, 62, Roachdale, passed away suddenly on August 3, 2013, while hiking with his grandsons. Born on April 27, 1951 in Indianapolis to Les and Barbara (Taylor) Benge. They precede him in death. He worked at AT & T for 17 years as a field coordinator. Formally, had been employed at Wood-Mizer in Indianapolis. Richard is survived by his wife, Norma Jean (Sanders) Benge; two children, Kristina Yeley, husband Robert, of Danville, and Sarah Colon, husband Joseph, of Charles Town, West Virginia; two brothers, Tom Benge, wife Norma, and Doug Benge, wife Jane; three sisters, Linda Muller, Toni Roland, husband David, and Judi Sigman, husband Steve; three step-children; 13 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was a strong Christian man, hard working, caring, fun loving, and always had a joke for everyone. He loved spending time outdoors. Dick’s greatest joys were spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them to fish, swim, and ride 4 wheelers and archery. He attended Calvary Fellowship Church in Greencastle. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Fay of Calvary Fellowship Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Hartman Cemetery, Roachdale. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 9, 2013.
