He was the son of the late Virgil DeLoss Sharp and Gloria June (Alexander) Sharp, surviving. He was a 1966 graduate of Bainbridge High School. Rick later obtained an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. He married Laura L. (Grine) Sharp on February 12, 2000. Rick was a veteran of the Indiana National Guard, retiring after 25 years of Service, attaining the rank of Master Sargent.
Rick sold Insurance for 39 years, starting at Tri County Bank and ending his career at Hayes, Murphy, Sharp Insurance. He served as President of the Independent Agents Association of Putnam County. After ending his career in insurance, Rick worked for Auto-Zone retiring after 6 years of service.
Rick enjoyed spending time with his family, vacationing in Alabama and Arizona, working on cars, models and creating beautiful stained glass pieces.
In his younger years, he helped coach Boys' Little League, Girls' and Boys' T-Ball and Girls' Softball. He was also a founding Member of the Roachdale Jaycee's and also a member of Kiwanis.
Surviving in addition to his wife Laura, are his daughters, Tiffany (Rob) Baker and Tamie (Ryan) Morrison. He also had 3 bonus children, Ryan (Katrina) Queen, Matthew (Ashley) Queen, and Kristen (Jeramey Ragan) Vermillion.
Rick is also survived by his Twin brothers, Randy (Anita) Sharp, Rodney (Chris) Sharp; a half-brother, James (Gladys) Alexander; a nephew Bradley (Tracy) Sharp, and 3 nieces, Stacy, Amy (John Tenoever), and Dana Sharp (Alex Reyland).
Rick had 5 grandchildren, Madison Harrison, Allyson Dear, and Chloe, Gabriel, and Samuel Baker. He had 11 bonus grandchildren, Aryana, Harper, Scarlett "Penny", Bentley, and McKinley Queen, Abigail and Carter Vermillion, Jaden Keesling, Clinten Daugherty, and Emma and Finn Ragan.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2021, at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2021, at the funeral home or one hour prior to time of service.
