Robert Ray Hedge

Born on May 30, 1952 in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Howard and Lela (Eggers) Hedge. He married Sherry (Sanford) McMains on December 14, 1991.

Bob graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Evansville and later received a Master's Degree in Music Education from Indiana State University. Bob dedicated 40 years to teaching music to students from Elementary to High School at Cloverdale, Mill Creek and North Putnam School Corporations with his final 25 years of teaching prior to his retirement at Greencastle School Corporation as the Middle School and High School Band Director and as Coach of the GHS Girls Golf Teams and the GMS Middle School Golf Teams.

Bob will be remembered for his nurturing spirit, his quiet demeanor, the impact he had on his students, and his passion for the game of Golf. Most importantly, Bob will be remembered as a wonderful Husband, Father, Step-Father and Grandfather (Papaw) to eight beautiful Grandchildren and a friend to many, many people.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sherry, of 34 years, three Daughters, Rebecca Nightingale (Ed), Dara McMains, Katharine Bonnoront (Andrew), one Son Bill Hedge (Katy) and eight Grandchildren (Ellie, Jude, Gracie, Samantha, Julia, Abby, Mia and Evie). He is also survived by his Sister, Marcia Wells (Charles) and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his Parents, Howard and Lela Hedge.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 21st with a service to follow. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. We will have a Celebration of Life at Tiger Pointe Country Club beginning at 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm.

In lieu of Flowers, the family requests donations to the Greencastle Music Department.
