Sharon Kay Ray

Sharon was born February 16, 1948 in Brown County, IN to the late James and Waunita Whitaker. She was a graduate of Brown County High School and worked in housekeeping for various hotels and companies.

On July 28, 1995 she married the love of her life, Dan Ray, a marriage that would last nearly 21 years. She loved to dance and listen to country music, especially, Loretta Lynn. She enjoyed spending time with animals, hunting mushrooms, and being outdoors.

Sharon leaves a large and loving family, including her beloved husband, Dan; children Rodney (Mindie) and Lori Reynolds; grandchildren, Tyler, Cory, Jesse, Zander, Natasha, Kayla, and Courtney; great-grandchildren, Davian and Aubrianah; brothers, Harvey (Audra) Whitaker and David (Teresa) Whitaker, and sisters, Patricia Murray, Vicki (Terry), and Debbie Whitaker.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Kurt Whitaker.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 pm, Tuesday July 26 in Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, where Friends and Family will gather at 9:30 Wednesday, July 27 to process to Boone Hutcheson Cemetery for Graveside Services.

The family encourages memorial donations be made to a local animal shelter of the donor’s choice.
