Shawn Allan Burnell

Shawn Allan Burnell, 29, of Greencastle passed away on October 18, 2020, in Pontiac, Illinois. Shawn was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on October 21, 1990, the son of Timothy and Shelly (Perry) Burnell, and was a 2009 graduate of Greencastle High School. Mr. Burnell worked for Putnam County Correction for three years. He was passionate about his tattoos, each one told a story, Shawn enjoyed target shooting and going to concerts. Surviors include his parents; a sister, Tina Burnell, Greencastle; a half-brother, Shane Burnell, Belchertown, Massachusetts; a step-sister, Elyse Saltman, Belchertown, Massachusetts; his step-mother, Joy Burnell, Belchertown, Massachusetts; his grandmother, Betsy Burnell Pittsfield, Massachusetts; and his girlfriend, Abbie Freer, Pontiac, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his Paternal grandfather, Arthur Burnell; and maternal grandparents Kenneth and Deion Perry. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 2, 2020 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Monday.
