

Shirley Iralene “Penny” Collins, 89, of Greencastle, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on October 24, 2025. She was born in Vincennes, Indiana and graduated from Linton High School in 1954.
Penny was married to James “Jim” Collins, who preceded her in death in 1997. They had four children Debbie (Mike) Korkos of Findlay, OH; Jay (Tammy) Collins of Carlisle, PA; Brad (Nancy) Collins of Greencastle, IN; and Missy (Rob) Wright of Greencastle, IN.
Grandchildren include Ryan (Candice) Korkos, Emily (Garrett) Gregory, Jacob (Marie) Collins, Katie Collins, Megan (Jerry) Tesmer, Nolan (Kyley) Lewis, Mallory (Marcus) Skinner, Ivy (Alex) Costin, and Delaney Wright (Dakota Campbell) and step grandchildren Jacob Wright, Hailey Wright, and Macey (Sam) Hayden. Penny had 14 great-grandchildren.
Penny spent several years with her beloved best friend and companion, William “Bill” Earl.
Penny was a beautician, worked in real estate, and banking for many years. She wintered several years in Florida. She loved the Lord, dogs, sports, and family time.
Penny was much loved by everyone at Mill Pond and truly thought of her caretakers as family. We want to thank all of them and the Life’s Journey Hospice team for lovingly caring for her as you did.
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 30th at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home from 9AM to 11AM with funeral services to immediately follow. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery following services.
