JANUARY 30, 1998-DECEMBER 12, 2019 Taylor Noelle Thurman was gifted by God to her parents on January 30, 1998 at Wesley Long Hospital, Greensboro, NC. She resided in McLeansville, NC and is a graduate of Walter Page High School, Greensboro, NC. During her primer and middle school years, Taylor participated in school and competitive level cheerleading and earned a Black Belt in Taekwondo. Taylor accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 9 and enjoyed a personal and dedicated relationship with the Lord while growing up in Grace Community Church, Greensboro, NC.
While a student at Page High School, Taylor excelled academically as an International Baccalaureate (I.B.) Student and was a four year member of the Page Pirates Marching Band. Taylor was an extremely creative thinker and always sought opportunities to bring joy, laughter, and fun to her friends and family. Taylor Graduated from High School in 2016 and began her post-secondary education at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.
As a UNCC 49’er English major minoring in Linguistics, Taylor continued to achieve academic excellence and accolades. She quickly found herself on the Dean’s List, was an Honor Student, and was inducted into the English Honor Society. Taylor picked up where she left off in High School by becoming a member of the UNCC “Pride of Niner Nation” Marching Band. She enjoyed the unique opportunity of traveling with the band to Normandy, France where she participated in the 2018 D-Day Memorial Parade.
Taylor was a loving daughter, awesome big sister to her brother, faithful and devoted friend, cherished granddaughter, niece, and cousin, and dedicated to her Christian faith. She brought joy, laughter, and an infectious smile to every room she entered. Taylor loved spending time with her best buds at UNCC, and was an avid “BTS” Army fan. Taylor was studying the Korean language and culture and had hoped to travel to South Korea one day. Although she spent the last year of her life courageously battling cancer, her journey was and will continue to be an inspiration to all; she remained committed to the Lord, and committed to loving her friends and family. Taylor entered into the restful and peaceful arms of our Lord and Savior on Dec 12, 2019. She is survived by her parents, COL Sammie Lee Thurman, Jr and Tomika (Whitten) Thurman of McLeansville, NC, her loving brother, Samuel Lee “Trey” Thurman III, her paternal grandparents Sammie Thurman Sr. (Daphne), and Martha Watkins, her maternal grandparents Roosevelt Whitten (Susan), and Rosalind Taylor and extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins, church family, and faithful loving friends gained throughout her memorable and remarkable life. She will be missed, but never forgotten. We love you Taylor and will see you again one day.
