

Mr. Aiden Dexter French, 95, died peacefully at home on Sunday, May 10, 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, May 15, 2015 at St. Paul Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Jay Lambeth officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. French was born in Northfield, Massachusetts on February 3, 1920 to the late Aiden Sawin French and Georgianna Bruce French. He was a member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Usher. After graduating from high school, he attended Middlebury College. Mr. French served in the United States Army during World War II and retired as a Meter Reader from Duke Power. After his initial retiring he continued to work at other places such as Southside Hardware for about ten years, also Jamestown Golf Course and LaValley Florist. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by all of his sisters, Dorothy Bouldry, Gladys Shattuck, Georgia Holton, Ruth Hurlbut, Abbie Glazier, and Thelma Miller.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 71 years, Jeanetta Chrismon French; daughters, Ronda Juliet Flowers and husband William, and their daughter, Charity, Nelda Fay French, Susan Ann Kostenko and her son, Peter, and Abbie Ruth Harris and her husband Bruce and their five children, Daniel, Anna, Joni, Mary, and Gabriel; brother, Ian MacLaren French; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on two different occasions. First receiving will take place from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday evening, May 14, 2015 at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel and the second receiving will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 pm.
