Anita deCoppet Molyneux

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with Father John Eckert officiating.

She was born in 1914 in Paris, France, and adopted in 1922 by Juliette de Coppet and Marcel Stengel. Her new home was Central Park West, New York. Her summers were always spent at the family home at Bolton Landing, Lake George, New York.

Anita attended private schools in New York, where she graduated from Todhunter School, as well as attending schools in England and Germany. She studied arts and languages at the King Smith Studio School in Washington, D.C.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William Lee Molyneux. Mrs. Molyneux leaves behind a daughter, Nancy Louise Balog and her husband, George Thomas Balog; 2 grandsons, Daniel William Balog and his wife, Kerry Thomson Balog, of Nashville, Tennessee, and Michael George Balog and wife Lorraine Schember Balog, of Greensboro, North Carolina; and 2 great granddaughters, Molly Grace Balog and Abby Cate Balog, and one great grandson, Michael George Balog, II.

Anita’s life was emersed in the arts. Her adoptive grandmother, Mdme. Marcella Sembrich, was a superstar during the Golden Age of Opera, who traveled the world performing in the great opera houses of the day. Anita spent much of her early life directly and indirectly influenced by Mdme. Sembrich.

She enjoyed singing, painting and acting, loved and enjoyed beauty in nature, and saw and appreciated most things with an artist’s eye.

Her friends and family knew her as a special lady of great compassion and spirituality, who also had a good sense of humor and a healthy outlook on life. The love of her family was always at the center of her heart. She had many friends and touched many people in her quiet, peaceful way. She will be sorely missed and remembered with great love and affection.
