Ann Teresa Sparks, nee Cozzetto, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Countryside Manor nursing home in Stokesdale, NC. She was 91. She had been residing at Countryside in Stokesdale for several years.
A private graveside service will be held at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greensboro, NC by the Deacon Larry Lisk from St. Paul’s Catholic Church. A memorial will be held later in the year for family and friends.
Mrs. Sparks was born in Cosenza, Italy to the late Antonio Cozzetto and Carolina Gallucci Cozzetto on November 19, 1929. She immigrated to the United States when she was four years old and was raised in the Bay Ridge neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Bay Ridge High School in 1947. In 1953, she married Charles Richard Sparks of Summersville, WV. They moved to Lagrange, NY where they raised their three children. They were married for over 61 years until his passing in 2015. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Sparks was preceded in death by her sister Evelyn DiBono. She is survived by her children, Brian, Carolyn and Andrew; grandson Anthony and granddaughter-in-law Camilla; granddaughter, Madeline; great grandchildren, Charlie and Emma and her brother Tony Cozzetto.
For over ten years, Ann was a supervisor at NY Telephone Company in Manhattan. Once the children were old enough, she started a retail sales career and retired from the Sears Department Store in Poughkeepsie, NY where she was recognized many times as the top salesperson. At Sears, she made lifelong friends and was often a parental figure to many of her younger coworkers. She was a devout Catholic.
