Audrey deeply loved her children and grandchildren. She was extremely fond of all animals and wildlife, especially birds. Audrey was a talented artist and singer and enjoyed playing tennis. Her artwork consisted of portrait sketches and oil paintings that are held dearly by the family. She was a volunteer for Hospice and was an editor for the Greensboro News & Record. She was a past member of the Greensboro Oratorio Society and sang in the choir at church for many years. Audrey was originally from Faribault, Minnesota, and liked to reminisce about growing up in a much colder climate. She moved to Richmond, VA when she was in her early twenties to work for Federated Insurance. There she met her future husband, Walter M. Elmore (Monie), who predeceased her.
She is survived by her three children, Les Elmore, Walter Elmore and Julie Elmore; daughter-in-law, Kelley Elmore; sister, Sharon Ryan of Northfield, Minnesota; grandchildren, Stewart and Meredith Elmore. A private service to honor Audrey will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.
