

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, 3235 Yanceville Street in the sanctuary with the Rev. Hank Moffitt, the Rev. Ray Thomas, and the Rev. Gary Waisner. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park immediately following the service.
Mrs. Marlow was born May 22, 1927 in Stokesdale, N.C. to Hersie and Flossie Pegram.
Mrs. Marlow worked as a bookkeeper for Jones-Lewis Furniture Co. where she met her husband, Lee, whom she was married to for 58 years. She worked for Wilber Music Co. and Nationwide and Amos Ins. Co. She retired from Hanes-Linebery Funeral Home in 1997.
Barbara loved going to their Florida home and mountain cabin with their canine companions.
She loved cooking, sewing, baking, and decorating cakes. She made her twin daughters' five foot wedding cakes. She was famous for her homemade lemonade. Barbara was a fantastic artist and has many paintings hanging at churches today. Her grandchildren remember the famous Grandmama Annual Easter Egg Hunts. They were always mystified at where Grandmama would hide the prize egg! The egg hunts went on long after the grandkids grew up. She will be missed by each loving family member.She was a "praying mother" and left us with strong moral principles and Christian faith.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marlow was preceded in death by her husband, Lee and sisters, Elmore Pegram and Notra Heaps, and brother Rev. R.A. Pegram.
Surviving are her son, Donald Marlow and wife, Anne, twin daughters; Jill Ballance and Gail Anderson and husband, Neil. Grandchildren include Amy Kelly and husband, Brian, Christopher Ballance and fiance,Kate Davis, and twin granddaughters ; Marcy McCaskill and husband, Joshua, Mindy Hopper and husband, Justin. Great grandchildren include Laney Hopper, Jace Hopper, Landon McCaskill, "little brother McCaskill to be born in May", Adalyn Kelly. "Great Grammy Barbara" adored her great grandchilden and was so proud of them. Also, surviving is siser-in-law, Melba Pegram and numerous nieces and nephews.
