

Bernard John McHale, 92, a resident of Greensboro passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday November 19, 2025. He was born September 21, 1933, in New York, New York, the son of the late Bernard Patrick and Leila Rogers McHale.
A graduate of City College of New York, he worked with Cone Mills in New York before being transferred to the Cone Mills operation in Greensboro, NC in 1968. He later owned and operated B.J. McHale Co, a US Customs House Brokerage. A philanthropist, Bernard was active in his community and in serving his community. He traveled the world with his wife of 68 years, visiting many countries and almost every continent. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the U.S. Army. He was a devout member of the Pro Life Movement. He held a special regard for the N.C. Right to Life and Room at the Inn. Bernard loved the Lord. He was a devoted and faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he was most recently the Treasurer, and previously received the highest rank of Grand Knight for Council #8684.
Bernard is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Elaine Julia Clarke McHale of the home; three daughters, Julia M. Roth (Mike), Theresa M. Eagle (Doug), Kathleen M. Goins; two sons, Michael J. McHale, Daniel J. McHale; two brothers, James “Jim” McHale and wife Sheila, Thomas McHale and wife Geraldine; four grandchildren, Joseph Roth, Alesha Lewis (Bryson), Joshua Roth, Sheila Eagle (Rob) and six great grandchildren, Evan Lewis, Ethan Lewis, Adrianna Lewis, Justin Rogers, Joseph Rogers and Naomi Rogers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday November 25, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park with Military Honors accorded by the Randolph County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Monday November 24, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
