

Mary Elizabeth “Bette” Johnson, 85, a resident of Jamestown died Sunday morning at her residence. Bette was born December 6, 1926 in Greensboro, the daughter of Jesse Floyd Brown, Sr. and Frances Genevieve Rogers Brown. She graduated from Jamestown High School and attended business college and later retiring from Pilot Life Insurance Co. as one of the assistant Vice President’s of the Group Division. She was a member of the Jamestown Ladies Golf Association and a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jesse Floyd Brown, Jr.; three sisters, Dorothy Brown, Audrey Wrike, Mildred Easter; niece, Faye Brewer and nephews, Roger Brown and Joe Easter.
Surviving are nieces, Regina Easter of High Point, Elaine Miller of Greensboro; nephews, Allen Brown of Greensboro, Michael Wrike of Jamestown and several great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service for Bette will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel. The family will receive friends at the residence on Monday from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel.
