Mrs. Bette Dolores Neumann Nusser, 88, a resident of Greensboro, NC, passed away on Wednesday July 18, 2018. Bette was born October 25, 1929 in Iowa City, IA, the daughter of the late Sigmund August and Edna Hamm Zeller Neumann.
Bette was married to Stephen Louis Nusser who preceded her in death on December 4, 2015.
Like her husband, Bette grew up in Iowa City and attended the University of Iowa where she majored in music. As an accomplished pianist, Bette enjoyed playing for friends and family, singing in the church choir and participating in other musical activities.
An avid collector of antiques, Bette and her husband traveled the country in search of rare American antiquities from the colonial era.
Although Bette briefly tried her hand at real estate sales and substitute teaching, she was entirely devoted to caring for her husband and raising her three children.
She is survived by daughters, Bobbie N. Battista (John) of Savannah, GA, Amy N. Dawkins (Tony) of Evanston, IL; one son, Michael Nusser (Anne) of Winston-Salem, NC and grandsons, Nick Nusser, Byron Dawkins, Trey Dawkins and Drew Dawkins.
Private family graveside services were held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro.
Any memorials may be made in Bette’s memory to the University of Iowa.
