Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Greensboro on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 with Rev. Alan Sherouse and Dr. Steve Pressley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Atrium of the church.
Betty was born in Roanoke, Virginia on March 10, 1926 to the late Floyd Giles Williams and Dorothy Via Williams. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church of Greensboro in which she served in many different capacities. Betty served as a Deacon, Sunday School Departmental Leader, she taught Sunday School to every age group over the years, served on multiple committees including building and grounds committees, served on the Heritage and Hope Building Fund, the Pastor search committee, held multiple positions such as the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU), organized Veteran of Overseas Veteran Trips, was co-leader of the Bereavement Committee and helped with the kitchen, hospitality, and music committees. She was a member of D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution), The Greensboro Garden Club, and Greensboro Beautiful.
Betty was well known for her annual Christmas party for seniors that she hosted in their home. She graduated from Mullens High School and attended Virginia Intermont College. Betty was a devoted homemaker and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Ann Williamson; her brother, Floyd G. Williams, Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Hope Hickok.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 72 years, William D. Lusk; daughters, Jeanne Ann Ezzell (Terry) and Mary Sue Butler (Pat); son, William Davis Lusk, Jr.; grandchildren, Ryan, Matt, and Nick Butler; and Adrienne, Katherine, and Samantha Lusk; and a sister-in-law, Kathryne Kirkland.
