Heaven gained the sweetest Angel, Mrs. Betty H. Segraves, age 90, in the late evening of March 27th, 2020. She passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was born on March 16th, 1930 in Crab Orchard, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Horace Wilson Hayes and Jennie Phillips Hayes. She was a retired employee of Western Electric where she worked for many years.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 72 years Calvin C. Segraves, three brothers Joseph Hayes, Dick Hayes, and Rex Hayes; four sisters Ruth Pardue, Chlorine Transou, Jean Johnson, and Julie King. Betty leaves behind son, Spencer Seagraves and wife Vivian; daughter, Betsy Segraves Williams and husband Bobby; grandchildren, Sarah Williams, Bradford Seagraves and wife Anna, Lauren Auker and husband Bryce, Ashley Welborn and husband Zach; Great Grandchildren Emery Seagraves and Sophie Auker; two brothers Howard Hayes, Clyde Hayes and wife Betty Ruth; one sister Annette Robertson and husband Tom.
Betty had a beautiful soul that brought light to every room. She loved life and enjoyed living every moment. She loved her family, God and reading the bible. Betty’s smile and laughter can be remembered by listening to Elvis and playing a game of Spades in her honor. We shall be reminded of Betty’s kindness when we hear the sound of birds chirping and we can find her fun spirit in purple flowers and trees. Betty’s love shall spread sunshine across the land as she guards over her family from above, Now and Forever.
A Private Family Service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held at Guilford Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Betty’s tribute page can be accessed at http://act.alz.org/goto/Betty_Segraves
