

Beverly Ann (Carr) Key, 85, a resident of Greensboro, passed away surrounded by family at Wesley Long Hospital on Monday, July 27, 2026. She was born in Guilford County on January 21, 1941, a daughter of Marcus Eugene and Alsie Barham Carr.
Beverly was a graduate of Bessemer High School. She worked for Duke Power Company before becoming a full-time housewife and mother and serving as a primary caregiver for several years to her elderly parents. She was an active member of Guilford Park Presbyterian Church.
Beverly will be remembered by friends and family as a wonderful cook, a lover of Christmas, and someone who embodied the command to put others first. Her Christmas fudge and party mix were famous, and if you were not celebrating with her, she made sure you were sent some to enjoy. She took the time to ensure that those she loved were always remembered on birthdays, at Christmas, and during times of loss with wonderful cards, written in her perfect penmanship. Taking the time to remember and care for others was her special gift.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Ida Carr Penry, Jane Carr Crowder, and Nancy Carr Nelson.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, David Key. She is also survived by her loving son, Darrell David Key, and wife Lisa; grandsons Jordan Patrick Key of Raleigh and Christopher Brandon Key of Garner; granddaughter Melissa Lauren Key Bridges and husband Jonathan of Gastonia; and brother, Dr. Marcus E. Carr, and wife Sherri of Richmond, VA.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Guilford Park Presbyterian Church, conducted by Pastor Stephen Fearing. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends at the church from Noon until 1:00.
Flowers may be sent to Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407 or in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Beverly’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
