
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, February 13, 2013, at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel, with Dr. Jay O. Lambeth officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., prior to the memorial service, at the funeral home.
Born November 5, 1927 in Greensboro, to the late John and Edith Rogers, Beverly graduated from Greensboro Senior High and later attended The Women's College. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Beverly made her career as a bookkeeper, starting out at Burlington Industries right out of college and continued her bookkeeping trade throughout her working career. After retiring, she worked for UNCG and The Greensboro Visitors Center. Beverly was an avid bridge player and was a member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church, where she was very active until her health began to decline. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Richard C. Long; her brother, John M. Rogers; and a grandson, Phillip B. Riek, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Carole Garvey and husband Al and Pam Peterson and husband Tracy; grandchildren, Hamilton Garvey and wife Allyson, Elizabeth Garvey, Sarah Garvey, Lauren Riek, and James Riek.
The family would like to thank the staff of Morningview at Irving Park, Beacon Place, and all her wonderful hospice team members for their devoted compassion and care.
