Billy J. Avant

Billy J. Avant, 55, a resident of Greensboro died Monday September 1, 2014 at Wesley Long Hospital. Billy was born February 2, 1959 in Conway, SC the son of George Avant Sr. and Lethia Young Avant. He was a graduate of Northwest High School Class of 1978. Billy worked in construction and attended Aycock Fellowship Ministries. Billy was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Myra Scoggins Avant of the home; a daughter, Laura Tilley and husband Michael of WA; his sister, Dena A. Keesee and husband Doug of Stokesdale; brothers, George Avant Jr. and wife Sallie, Harry Avant all of Georgetown, SC, Donnie Avant and wife Debbie of Stokesdale; grandchildren, Ivana, Cameron, Benjamin, Riley and his faithful canine companion, “Clifford.”

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Pastor Donnie Pickeral and Chaplain Martin Paschal. Interment will be in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
