Billy L. Sharpe

A funeral service will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m., at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.

Billy was born July 28, 1936 in Greensboro, the son of Hilliard Sharpe and Celler Bell Martin Sharpe.

Billy was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of Martin Avenue Baptist Church. Billy was an avid military history and movie buff and enjoyed writing. He was exceptional at making words rhyme. Billy enjoyed working on lawnmowers and will be remembered for his corny jokes that kept his family amused.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd Sharpe.

Surviving is the love of his life, June Callahan; children, Tracy Apple Moser and husband Phil of Climax, Kenneth Sharpe of Pleasant Garden and Diane Sharpe of Reidsville; sister, Rebecca Strickland of Greensboro; grandchildren, Jake, Jordan and husband Andrew, Jennifer, Brooke and Dylan; three great grandchildren. Billy was also adored by many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Friday, 10:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
